Effects of 1-Methylcyclopropene Treatment on the Quality and Malic Acid Metabolism of ‘Xiangjiao’ Plum under Low-Temperature Storage

‘Xiangjiao’ plum (Prunus salicina Lindl.) is a stone fruit that vulnerable to the chilling injury (CI) caused by low-temperature stress. The effects of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) and ethylene absorbent (EA) treatments on quality malic acid metabolism stored at 4 °C were compared in this study. Compared with control check (CK) EA treatment, fumigation 1.0 mg·L−1 1-MCP for 24 h could more significantly maintain sensory physiological fruit, increase activity antioxidant enzymes, prolong storage time plums. Furthermore, treatment can regulate high expression tonoplast dicarboxylate transporter (tDT) phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (PEPC) gene, NAD-malate dehydrogenase (NAD-MDH) gene end storage, inhibit NADP-malic enzyme (NADP-ME) gene. These changes resulted increased NAD-MDH decreased NADP-ME activity, which inhibited degradation CI. As result, effectively plum, reduce loss pleasant sour taste, improve edible flavor commercial value fruit.
